(Moore, OK) – Although the devastating tornadoes that tore through Moore, Oklahoma left an everlasting impact on the community, the City of Moore has continued to offer events for families of those affected and for all others within the city.  From a day of fishing to a movie in the park, these free activities in Moore are great for the entire family.

fishing_derby_12_promo_thumbFor fishing buffs, on Saturday July 27th at the Buck Thomas Park from 7:30AM – 10:00AM, children aged 5-15 who are accompanied by an adult will have the opportunity to fish for small-sized channel catfish at the City of Moore Fishing Derby. Although there is a 4 fish limit per family, you get to keep the fish!  Rods, reels, and bait will be provided, along with Pro Bass Anglers on site to help beginners. This event is free to the public and you can register you and your children online.

Despicable Me 2″ hit theaters this summer to rave reviews and on August 10th, from 7:00PM to 10:00PM, the family will have the opportunity to catch the first film of the 2-part installment, “Despicable Me” .  Sponsored by the Moore Public Library and Moore Parks and Recreation, the movie will take place under the stars at Buck Thomas Park, with inflatables, pizza, and face painting for children beginning at 7:00PM with the film starting at 8:30PM.  Bring blankets, lawn chairs, and snacks and enjoy this great film.
